Re: cematery duty
i have a standing order with the florist in the town whre my dad is buried....they change the flowers on his headsone every three months. my mom loves to see what new arrangement they have brought....since i live far away and only go up a couple of times a year, it gives me joy to know his grave is being tended.

Re: cematery duty
The boys and I just returned from the cemetery in town where my parents are buried, and....some unkind relative of mine put flowers only on my Daddy's side! Thats just tacky!

Re: cematery duty
When it comes to family, some things, even if it is possible to uncover the culprit, just arent worth pursuing. Making that choice is the difference between knowing and being aggravated versus being unaware and at peace.
Over many years I have learned that, at times, ignorance is bliss. These days I ask myself "What difference will it make in ten years?" If it doesnt have the power to impact my life in a major way, i let it go.
Some family members are just that way....

Re: cematery duty
My first thought was that it could have been an unintended slight. Maybe they miscalculated and didn't have enough flowers or something. But you know the people.

Re: cematery duty
If I were to arrive at the gravesites of two married people, and "didn't have enough flowers", either they would each get half, or neither would get them. I think Merryyon's point was that it WAS intentional.
If a person is smallminded enough to slight a deceased person is such a manner, it is, as I said, usually very easy to figure out who is such a wad of spit. I agree with LA that it is up to you to either let that get to you or not.
My best revenge is not to let people know that they have bothered us, either by action or omission.
Look, my own parents told me that my daughter "wasn't a _____________(my maiden name)". My decision after that was this:Then neither am I.
