dog gone rain

Michigan for going on 2 months now has basically had nothing but pop up storms, and they keep missing us.  Quite a light show this morning about 4AM but barely got the ground wet enough to make the sand stick to your boots.

Wish the tropics would start cooking and get some gulf moisture up here.  This stuff coming down from the north isn't doing us any good this summer.  Getting pretty dry here.

Re: dog gone rain

Hope it jumps overus and gets to you, when those tropical systems do manage to get brewing! We have been several inches above normal all summer, andvthat translates to morex lagoon pumping, more money for diesel to move water, more wear and tear on the equipment, and more stress on Mike.

If you saw yesterday's weather report, there is something massive boiling off the coast of Africa right as we speak...so, the wait for rain may be coming o an end for you soon. Like I said...hope it skips over us!

Re: dog gone rain

Yeah I know what you mean.  I don't want anything bad coming out of the tropics.  I've got kids in Florida and worry about them during the hurricane season.  But the tropic moisture maybe is more likely to give us some that we are starting to need.  Although the UP of Michigan has been getting moisture and they have been in a deficit for a couple of years now, that's a good thing about this weather out of the north this time of year.

dairy mom, I think I had caught every one of those pop up storms at my place in monroe county, mich. I wish I could send your way  for a while. Cant get beans sprayed or much of anything else. Son picked up lawn mower to try to get lawn mowed said he may be back to get baler.

Re: dog gone rain

We've needed rain & have gotten two 1/4" showers this week.  Not much really but with the overcast sky today it's helped the corn.  What it hasn't helped is the straw that's down.  It's so thick it's hard to get it dry.  Got some of done before the showers but baler broke down and now the rest of it is too wet.  Hopefully the raking today will help dry; not just lose straw.

Re: dog gone rain

yes I think this year Michigan may be a quilt work from too much, to good, to dry.  Strange weather.  They keep putting shower in our forcast then moving them back and back and then they don't happen at all.

This evening it's getting actually chilly.  Hubby comes in says "think I'll go squirrel hunting tomorrow".  What?  Says the feel outside reminds him of September.
