holiday bustle

Don't know about the rest of you, but this gal is WAAAY behind.  Cannot believe the calendar and it sure doesn't FEEL like Christmas.  I have some flowers under a tree that have flowers.  What a weird year.

Between doctor appointments, Christmas programs, (2) funerals I have organized dinners for, and our 50th Anniversary it's been really hectic.  Didn't do much other than a church blessing & mass and family dinner for that.  Thinking of a trip next spring or summer.  Being tied tothe farm with the dairy cows has left us pretty much novices at travel.

Usually have cookies baked and holiday dinner pies, rolls, etc. in the freezer but not this year.  Not sure what the main course is even going to be.  Going shopping with DH today should be fun as he is not a shopper but I need some help.

Hope I get my cards out in time but if I don't, I want to say "Merry Christmas" to everyone.  Hope this board perks up after the holidays.

Re: holiday bustle

In the office for a few, between grandson's preschool party and ;eaving for Virginia.  My iPad still will not let me post to the site, so I only do it the rare moments I am in here...usually right after I finish bookwork for the week.

Congratulations on your fiftieth.  A true milestone.

As usual, you have more on your plate than I could ever chew.  Don't worry about al those carbs for Christmas!  I am not getting cards ready to mail yet either....

Re: holiday bustle

Congratulations on your 50th!  A spring or summer trip would be great, hope it works out for you.

I completely forgot about the cards.  They probably won't get sent as I am so far behind!

Re: holiday bustle

congratulation Linda on the 50th  and I agree with Kay you always have too much on your plate.

Lately my plate seems to be broken and just not holding much.

We'lll be doing Xmas this weekend.  That is what worked best for the kids.

Of course I'm not ready.  Move way too slow any more.  Been off all year.  Hubby finally got a tree in the house Monday evening. Finding it is bothering me.  This is quite early for me to have a tree in the house.  Then when I thought about it and realized the last time I put up tree this early was the year we had the house fire I really lost enthusiasm for it. I went to get the decorations.  Looks like a crazy person put them away although the twins might have gotten into that attic space earlier this year.

Just can't get on a roll and this vertigo isn't going away very well.  Is better but still have to be very careful and keeps me doing everything at such a slow pace I lose my motivation

. Some other issues I'm trying to figure out how to address in the coming year.  This transition is not really going as smoothly as I had hoped.  Need to sort out my feelings and decide what to express and what to repress.

Am really hoping they get the farm office out of my house soon because it is becoming a huge issue for me.  DIL and I have to be very careful not to butt heads and it is getting harder and harder having my space invaded

Hubby gone today to bring home some more new cows.  Really didn't need him doing that because we need to finish the part of shopping that he puts input into.  Didn't find out till yesterday he was going so cancelled our plans for last night to will go tonight maybe but probably not because he'll have to be available to push new cows into parlor in the morning.  We just don't get by on abbreviated sleep anymore.

Re: holiday bustle

Dairy mom, have been wondering how the vertigo was.  Lady I worked with on the funeral had it terrible.  She has fluid build up in her ears and went twice to dr. & two different antibiotidcs.  Very unsteady but a former nurse and a tough cookie that won't quit working.

I can truthfully say I am getting over the meloncholy of not dairying.  We have been so busy there is no way I could keep up-not doing a very good job of that anyway.  LOL  I am not real happy with the beef cows though.  Prices dropping so fast it has certainly changed our projected profits.  Weaned the babies from their moms and I am sure the whole neighborhood was not happy with the seranade and then it was QUIET.  Too quiet.  Yup, they broke out and got mixed up again.  I had to take mom to appointment so couldn't help.  Guess it didn't go badly though.

Hope the office gets moved.  That sounds very difficult.  Don't know what milk price is in your area but dairymen around here are unhappy, especially considering last year's prices.  Farming is like going to Vegas gambling.  Have to take my mom shopping tomorrow & foot dr.appt. and then sometime this weekend need to go w/DS and DH to finish up.  Along with doing more prep for Christmas dinner.  Always wanted everyone here Christmas dinner but this year having a soup supper or pizza on Christmas Eve sounds so relaxing.  It's definitely not a woman's holiday. Food, cookies, presents-lotsa work and we get so wrapped up in it we forget the reason for it.

Re: holiday bustle

I had never thought of Christmas that way...not a woman's holiday. But so very true.  I no longer enjoy the holidays like I once did.

Re: holiday bustle

So much more fun when my kids were small.  My grandkids (7, 11, 14, 22) are looking forward to presents.  Well, the oldest wants some new rear tires.  Said he needs grwn up gifts now.  And the 7 year old seems rather wary of "Santa".

Sure a lot more fun back then and I also didn't worry about a menu.  Older generation handled that.  Now that's me, sadly.  Only brought one dish.  My MIL worked for days & nights preparing cookies & candies and also a feast which was over the top.  I pale in comparision to her.
