old age setting in?

I started washing windows yesterday.  Didn't get far.  These windows are filthy even though I have washed once this year.  The tip in windows are nice but I have to take all my curtains down to get them washed.  I swear to God I washed them 5 times each, top & bottom, inside & out.  And they are still kind of streaky in spots.  Even went uptown & got different window cleaner.  Finally mixed up a solution of alchol and it has helped.

However, I don't know if I can clean this big house anymore like I used to.  Have to break it down psychologicaly to one wall at a time.  Knees give me fits going up & down step stool, and I have no energy.  My mom of 95 can outwork me.  Maybe too much bothering me at night so I don't sleep well.  Not sure.  I just know I am SLOW.  Would much rather be outside doing anything else.  So I might give this up as soon as I get the curtains washed & back up.  It will wait for another day, I suppose.  Probably many more days-LOL.  Don't know why I use the excuse of not having a full day to do it - I probably couldn't even work a full day on it.  Probably should just hire a cleaning lady for it but when I'm not working outside on the farm I don't feel like I should.

I can relate to all issues!  Aren't you close to the interstate? We now have an interstate about a half mile away. But what I really notice is the car windows. They are almost impossible to get clean. I usually use a mixture of vinegar and ammonia and water. It just does not work as well now. I have added a little corn starch. Finally used alcohol too.

With all the stress you have had in the past several months I would not be too concerned about you energy level. Excess stress is bad.

Re: old age setting in?

I found out why my MIL obsessed about the east kitchen window.   When the sun comes in the morning... You can see everything.  I spent an hour washing those  2 windows  inside and out.   Numerous trips back out to take care of streaks.   I am enviromentally a bad girl.  I use aresol  window cleaners.   I believe they streak less.

Re: old age setting in?

Suey,

We used to have a van stop with farm equipment supplies and I got some aresol window spray a long time ago.  It was the best and didn't streak.  Have run out now, so I'm trying to find something else equally good.  Someone told me to try WM auto department.  Will do, but I doubt I'll find.

Our kitchen window faces the east also so I understand.  We have a small bay window above the sink & it is a real pain.  Love decorating for the seasons but balancing on the sink to reach the center window is down right dangerous.  Try to do only when I have someone in the house.  LOL  The side windows are casements, so no problem.

Re: old age setting in?

It finally dawned on me that the allergy medication I was taking at bedtime was contributing to me draginess.  I would be raring to work at bedtime but with everyone sleeping that wasn't possible.  Have quit taking it but am still bothered by the allergies unfortunately.  Still not up to the speed that I was 5 or 10 yrs. ago but my life is a lot more stressful now.

Re: old age setting in?

Linda, go to the builder's supply, and buy one of those nice four-step ladder thingies with the folding shelf on top.  They are under $50, and you will burn that much gas getting to the ER if you fall!
