just got back in the house after a little visit with the vet.  Hubby had him here checking on a possible DA so he took advantage of the vet having a little time to look over calves. 

Calls me and I come out and we are going through the building and updating the vet  a little on the program now, since we are back in the business of raising a few of our own heifers.

So I'm bringing up stuff I want done in the building.  specifically some steel removed for ventilation and the old fans getting put back in working condition.

So hubby starts in with how narrow my interests are on the farm and how things take priority from the big over all picture.

I'm saying something about how I've been talking to him about the fans for 2 months.  He goes yeah I know you want it done.  Then adds that there is stuff one of the employee's would like changed in the parlor.  Equating me with her

I just about lost it.  Said I better have more pull around here than an employee.

I'm so mad right now I'm seeing red and just about ready to spit teeth.

Did he do this in front of the Vet?    G.. I hate it when he decides to point out something about me in front of anyone.   Let him have it with both barrels.   No supper for him tonight.   The best he could hope for here would be  frozen pizza.

Whoa.....I can't blame you.  I agree...frozen pizza would be lucky for him.  I'd personally lock all the cupboards except the bread cupboard and lock the frig. so he could have water and bread.  I'd also be working on your "narrow" scope of the farm so much that you just can't possibly keep up with the household chores of laundry and what not.

What he fails to recognize is this: When you belittle someone who is your partner on life and business that way, in front of a consulting professional, he looks precisely like an ignorant fool. You are mad because you feel he made you look bad. Believe me, that's not what that vet took away from the encounter....

I agree with the above.  But let hm fix his own supper.  And I'm sure if the vet has any intelligence he saw through the situation.

I also get some "digs" since I "retired".  True, I do not go out & feed the measely amount of bottle calves we now have.

Why should I?  Nobody helps me in the house & kitchen.  They sit & nap or talk on the phone twice as much as I do.

I have a "honeydo" list that is a mile long & getting moldy.

At one timein his life my brother was an electrician/ plumber. His sweetheart wife was really patient with him but one day she was at the end of her wits. She said you either fix the plumbing in our bathroom or I am going to hire your competitor to do it. He fixed the plumbing.

Another time my cousin and his wife were loading market hogs and he issued a few critical epitaphs and he turned around and discovered he was loading hogs alone. there are lessons to be learned just about anywhere!

Totally agree that  the vet knows what he did was wrong.   The hog truckers  have stories to tell about how some  men treat their wives while loading hogs.
