Re: update re:wondering

Time changes most things. That would be child abuse today. It apparently made you a tough gal. The doctor who treated my fractured femur called me a 'tough old farm gal' and I took it as a complement. I fear for the country's future and how this new generation growing up will handle it, if they get the chance.

Re: update re:wondering

Linda, maybe the thing to do is make a projects list for your grandson, and provide him with some guidance and supervision, but treat him like the grownup he is now.

DGD with tenaged aspirations should not be fir ed to work at her little sister's pace and level. The younger one can do so few things comparatively. Maybe baseboards, since she is closer to the floor! You have a great opportunity to teach her the skills right, and reward her a bit in the process.

Maybe look up one of thise age-appropriate household chores lists...they are easy to find onli e, as are safe farm chores by age. Use that as a guide, maybe letting her " work up" one age braxket, but no more than that...ket the older one cover the gap between the two ages in the lists.

I think your DGS really wants to farm, in his heart. At least he will have this exoerience to look back on fondly.

I really hope the visitors understand that it isn't your job to entertain them the whole time...maybe they can keep Bruan occupied while he heals. I do nkt see snything at all wrong with saying, " We promised the kids we would see their shiw Saturday night." Offer to eat out, before or after, deornding upon the schedule.

Re: update re:wondering

Well, we did eat out almost every meal while visitor family #1 was here for the fair.  He told me not to plan to cook any meals but I did throw together a hamburger fry, baked beans, chips, raw veggies and watermelon for lunch after church.  My kids were here also and I really scurried to do but it was OK.

They walked out the door about 1:30 and his mom & dad walked in at 5 p.m.  We have relaxed & visited with them but I made BLTs for late supper and this morning I cooked sausage & eggs.  Not sure when they are leaving but I know they will be here today & some tomorrow at least.  The big family of 5 adults are to arrive sometime today.  They were to bring their 40' camper but having some problems so not sure.  They may be camping on my floor.  This is when I may loose it.

DGS came to work this morning but the two little ones tagged along also.  Think I am going to head to the local grocery & pick up cold cuts for lunch today.

I am actually dead headed with all this.  Cannot even plan what to fix.  Don't really WANT to plan what to eat.  I need to get out to the garden & pick beans.  Aunt has offered to help can them but I'm not looking forward to that work.  I'm tired.  Would love to have someone, anyone, step up to the plate on this.  Mom fell & scraped her arm and have had that to bandage-DIL took over yesterday thankfully.  Fair, DSs health-both-, bible school, company, insurance bills, appointment we cannot make on Thursday-too much for this one tired gal.

Re: update re:wondering

I am sorry and feel you distress.  Why do things all happen at once?  It used to be blamed on Murphy's Law. Saying a prayer for you,.
