what have I done?

After all the posts on "NO", I can't believe my life is where it's at.  FIL dug his heels in on going to the hospital after the chemo pills made him so sick.  I tried all day Sat., the rest of the family on Sun., & on Mon. morning he was so dehydrated when I took him to the ER they couldn't get an accurate blood reading.  He had to have glucose, of course, but also 4 units of blood and kept him until yesterday.

Tues. we had a dairy meeting which was OK but I was so tired & stressed I hardly enjoyed.  Supposed to be 25 people there; 8 of us showed up.  Sad.  They need a rep. from our district & they asked me.  Of course, I said  "if you can't get anyone else".  Stupid!  Came home & I did my chores then took DGD to dance lessons (1/2 hr. drive).  My mom called my DIL saying she wanted to go watch too.  There went my private time with DGD.  Came home & finished chores; got in at 9:30.  At the same time, DH had to make a flying trip to go get FIL's clean underwear & run to the hospital.

Then yesterday, mom wanted me to go shopping with her (SR. citizens discount).  So I did-she's 91 & would drive herself if I didn't.  Then got the call FIL was being released-he wanted to come here for a couple of days.  So stopped at the hospital to pick him up.  The man is extremely weak.  I'm sure a nursing home would have given some rehab for strength but his DSs didn't have the gumption to fight him so he's here.  got home at 4:30, made supper & homemade cookies, then chores.

This morning we get a call from field man that there's a good chance the state inspector will be here before the end of the week.  Uh, today's Thurs.!

The rep. from the health reinbursement co. called (3rd time) and I've been doing some of my payments wrong according to this new outfit.

Aaargh!  Is it a wonder my stomach is in knots.  Am I trying to get the "wonderwoman of the year" award or "the most stupid"?

Then last night DS complained of something in his eye that wouldn't clear.  Still there this a.m.

With his health history I didn't sleep much.  Made appt. w/specialist for tomorrow & verified his MRI appt.  Probably a sinus infection or something but - - .  "Oh yea of little faith"

REALLY SORRY-here I am complaining again.  Gotta go clean the parlor which has been neglected.

Re: what have I done?

Linda, I think you should consider a decision to give up the group rep role for now.  Your family's health situation makes you too subject to having to drop and run at any moment.

Your FIL will not be discharged to a nursing home unless his condition warrants that level of care, and even thne, you may have to advocate as a family for him to get it.  He will not ask to go to one, I sense.  Dehydration is a very serious condition.  He is lucky it didn't kill him this time, from the sound of the care he required.

If this is what you call " a little stressed," I would hate to see what you call a LOT!  I am in awe of you and everything you do.  Give yourself credit, and also permission to vent here.

Re: what have I done?

And I thought my day was busy! I'm sorry you have to deal with all of this stress. About your husband's eye, could he have a piece of metal in it? My dad ran an auto body shop before he retired, and every so often he'd get a little piece of metal in his eye from grinding or whatever. Of course he wore eye protection, but still it happened several times. I drove him to the doctor a few times and they'd put some dye in it and look with a black light, and use a magnet to get it out. If it's something that simple he may be able to get the help he needs at the clinic without waiting to see a specialist.

I hope things quiet down for you soon, or that you can at least find a way to carve out some time for yourself! Hang in there!

Re: what have I done?

Linda, just hang in there and prioritize, using a list. Sounds like your mother needs to be understanding of your other needs right now. I too need to learn to say no.

Re: what have I done?

Holy Cow!  I think you ARE a wonder woman....I always hated it when the inspector was due.  It was my job to clean the milk room, etc.   Hmmm, was I the one that made it dirty???

wish I could help you.
